1. Compared to the previous version, the new version is disappointingly skinny. Still, if you eat in Vancouver, Victoria, or Whistler, its a must buy.

1. Each year, I look forward to purchasing the newest Rand McNally road atlas. At last, I have purchased the 2008 edition. One nice touch this year--a plastic cover to help protect the normal soft cover.
   
   Since I was a kid, I have always enjoyed this publication. This atlas has never just been a source of information about how to get from point A to point B. There has always been a certain amount of "romance." Even as a kid, I would trace a route from one place to another, and look for the special sites along the way--and imagine what they were like. Whether a state park, a national monument, a battlefield, the birthplace of someone special, I would close my eyes and wonder.
   
   Even now, I still do the same thing.
   
   But there are also many practical aspects to the atlas. You can go to a web site to get further information, including road construction sites. There are phone numbers for contact information about hotels and road conditions. For short hand estimates of how long it would take to get from one place to another, the "miles and minutes" map on the inside of the back cover is a favorite.
   
   As my eyes lose a little of their power with each passing year, it's sometimes a challenge to read the small print.
   
   Still and all, this remains, for me, a classic and a purchase made each year that carries a little extra pleasure with it.



2. The atlas is ok. Honestly I don't like it as well as the 1997 version. I bought this 2008 version to replace the 1997 one. It's very similar...of course, it is updated but the printing is darker and that makes it harder to read.

1. Great for people planning both a long and short trip. I used the book for a cross country trip that went into Canada and found all the information up to date. The general travel tips and what to pack is also a big help.



2. The most valuable asset of this listing is that it not only gives you the upper crust but even the more affordable motels and hotels sometimes even off the beaten path that will allow pets. This is good for those of us who don't only want the "inns" and hotels but just a nice stay in a clean place.



3. My husband and I always travel with our dog, and that can make it difficult to find lodging. This book never lets us down. Aside from all the lodging listings there is a lot of general information about traveling with your pet. We bought a previous version and just about wore it out.



4. I had an earlier edition of this book, which I used a lot, but it got outdated. It is invaluable in searching out places that take pets. Gives you somewhere to start. I used internet sites too, but they are outdated, so I ordered this new edition.



5. A good place to start, but when I checked the web sites for the first two hotels I wanted on my trip they were no longer pet friendly. I realize it can't be updated every few months so my advice is use the book a starting point but do your investigation to follow up on-line.

1. This is a really neat book! It covers over 150 edible and medicinal plants and includes both photographs and line drawings of the herbs and plants for an easier time identifying them. Each plant has the common and botanical name, as well as a write up on identification,distribution and habitat, and Preparation and uses. Many of them also have folk stories related to the plants from native cultures. The appendices include A Glossary of botanical terms, Summary of herbal therapuetic groupings, Herbal preparations, and sources and recommended readings.

   All in all, if I where to bring one book with me, out in the wild... this would be the one.
